Power of Poetry Festival 2026: Finding Connection

A dream come true—join me in the sandstone-carved foothills of the Appalachians as I perform ecstatic poetry with one of my heart heroes Kim Rosen. We’ll be accompanied by two musicians I deeply admire: Noah Hoffeld on cello and four-time Grammy winner Glen Velez on percussion. Two ecstatic evenings, plus a workshop, hosted by my beloved friend, storyteller Alan Cohen. Please join us. This is my third time getting to participate in Power of Poetry, and it is a true love fest. ~ Rosemerry

Ravensun’s Poetry’s Power of Poetry festival has offered our community a wide range of poets, storytellers, and musicians representing many genres over the years. The 2026 program will feature ecstatic poems accompanied by music.

Festival favorite Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will be joined by Kim Rosen to read poems accompanied by musicians Glen Velez (percussion) and Noah Hoffeld (cello). All our featured guests are nationally acclaimed.

The program will start with live classical piano music by Evie Adelman and Gary Kennedy. Wellspring of Imagination students will also share their recent poems.

ABOUT: Kim Rosen’s book Saved by a Poem, opens with this explanation of ecstatic poetry…”Poetry is the language of the soul. From below the surface of your life, the truth of who you are calls to you through the poems you love. Even if you have been touched by only one poem, or just a single line heard at a crucial moment and remembered, those words are an invitation from within. To take them deeply into your life and speak them aloud brings every level of who you are—your thoughts, your words, your feelings, and even your physical energies—into alignment with what matters most to you. You are receiving and giving voice not only to the poem but also to your own soul.”    ~ Kim Rosen

Sometimes you hear a voice through
the door calling you, as fish out of
water hear the waves or a hunting
falcon hears the drum’s come back.
This turning toward what you deeply love
saves you.
~ Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks
