The Gift of Perspective: Writing to Explore and Honor Aging
Embrace the journey of aging through poetry and creative exploration, discovering new ways to reflect on your life’s stories, deepen self-understanding, and celebrate the wisdom that comes with time.
As vitality falls away, what essential, unchangeable self remains? How does it feel to hold all your past selves in you at once? What stories does your aging body know? One of the greatest gifts of creative practice is it allows us to be curious about all aspects of our lives and explore them with curiosity, attentiveness and wonder. For 2.5 hours, poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will guide participants in reading and conversing about poems that help us reflect on the gifts of aging. Then she’ll offer specific poetic tools for writing your own poems, plus a time to practice. There will be a conversation about process and a chance to reflect on what you’re taking away. Hosted by The Community for Conscious Aging and The Jung Center in Houston.
