From Tragedy to Triumph: Writing with Camille Claudel and Suzanne Valadon

Join poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and cultural historian Kayleen Asbo for a two-part series that explores the lives and works of two important—and little known—artists of the turn of the twentieth century: sculptress Camille Claudel and painter Suzanne Valadon.

Both were muses to great men and had tempestuous love affairs, but while Camille’s life ended in tragedy, Suzanne’s is an inspiring story of resilience and triumph. We will trace their dramatic lives and then use their fascinating work as mirrors for ourselves and the starting point for our own creative writing process.
