Resilience: Poetry as a lens for meeting the world
Rosemerry and Art Goodtimes will lead this morning poetry playshop for students in Western State University’s 13-week immersive course in Resilience in Mountain Towns.
We’ll explore poetry as a tool to reflect on and capture the moment, a tool to express oneself in the present and moving forward. We’ll also experience how poetry helps us ask more thoughtful questions, how it invites us to re-learn a landscape, how it helps connect us to a community and place.
The session will end with a gourd circle– talking a bit about Dolores LaChapelle, Bardic poetry and then participating in a sharing circle by reading a favorite poet’s piece (to get used to performing) and in the second round the created poems with an emphasis on active listening and performance.
Not open to the public.
